Each month Philadelphia magazine asks notable Philadelphians to share their favorite spots in the region. This month, Action News legend Jim Gardner takes us out to the ballgame.

Why Citizens Bank Park?

When I enter the ballpark, it’s an experience that combines going to games with my dad when I was a kid and going to games as a dad with my kids. I’m probably just as happy watching batting practice as I am watching the game.

First visit?

Before it opened, on a media tour. It was exciting to see the spanking-new park. It opened in 2004. I’m sure I saw a game before the end of April.

How many visits?

A hundred?

Favorite spot?

For many seasons, we had Sunday-plan seats along the third baseline. Section 132.

Best time to go?

July and August at night. I don’t mind waiting out chilly April weather in front of the TV.
