Main Line Monday: An Owner Dares You in Wynnewood
The home search engine Zillow has a category of homes it calls “Make Me Move.”
These homes are not currently listed for sale, but their owners have set a price that would get them to sell in a second if a buyer offers it.
In our search for an outstanding Main Line home to feature this week, we ran across one of them. It’s very spacious, has great bones, and is loaded with nice amenities. And it’s not only priced to make the owner move — given what it offers, we think it may even be priced to move, assuming you’re looking for a home in its price range.
This grand-looking home was built in 1935 by noted local builder Pasquale Beccia in the English Gothic picturesque style using his signature building materials of hand-cut stone and slate. He incorporated a number of distinctive features into it, including a large porte-cochere with balcony graced by statuary, two-story window bays and floor-to-ceiling arched fan windows and doors.
Inside, it’s been impeccably maintained, with judicious remodeling to keep pace with modern demands.
The large windows in the living room, dining room, sun room, library and study flood the main floor with abundant natural light. The kitchen has been updated with granite countertops, tile backsplashes, top-quality appliances including a six-burner gas range and built-in microwave, and an additional workspace with butcher-block countertop and glass-front cabinets. There’s also bar seating around the range island.
You’ll find grand fireplaces with marble mantels in both the living room and the dining room, and the master bedroom also has a fireplace along with a huge walk-in closet.
The outside is just as inviting as the inside. In addition to the forested front yard and porte-cochere balcony, there’s an attractive patio in the back that overlooks a lushly landscaped garden with koi pond and waterfall.
Its location strikes a nice balance between tranquility and convenience: Fairhill Road is itself a quiet, secluded lane, but it’s close to three distinct and lively local destinations: downtown Ardmore, the Wynnewood Shopping Center and the charming center of Narberth.
Think the price below is a fair one for this property? Go ahead, contact the owner — you can do it on the Zillow listing.
