This Is the Worst Time to Commute in Philly

But folks in Montco might have it doubly worse.

With the exception of those of you with gigs at home (or lucky enough to be within walking distance to their job), most of us are headed to work between 7:00 and 8:00 in the morning.

And while you might be thinking that anyone who’s ever stepped out at that time could have told you that, now there’s data and–even better–an interactive FlowingData map that allows us to see the commuting differences between counties. Obviously, we took a look at Philadelphia and how its commute times compared with Montco, Delco, Chesco, and Bucks (someone make this a Marx Bros-inspired YouTube short, stat).

Montgomery County, which has about 386,266 commuters per day, for example, sees another wave of commutes between 8:00 and 8:30am, long after Chester County–236,699 commuters–has come down from its 7:00-7:30 bubble and Philly– up to 586,4111 commuters over all per day–has for the most part plateaued. (Delco, like Chester, also comes down after a 7am rush.)
