Methodist Church in Bala Is Maybe Less for Sale Than It Looks

It would seem that the beautiful church we were fretting over–the United Methodist Church of Bala Cynwyd–is on the market, but it’s not ON THE MARKET. We’ve learned that someone offered the full asking price but was turned down. Everything was done through a reputable broker, who was naturally angry that the seller would turn down the full ask.

The reason, apparently, is that the sellers are looking for someone to buy it and then lease it back to them. They’re not ready to give it up altogether, in other words, which we completely understand. Not to get religious about it, but they’re looking more for an angel than a buyer.

So mortal buyers beware: The asking price may not be enough.
