US Open Last-Minute Rentals: There’s Still Time

So Tiger will not drown in some kind of Biblical flood after all, despite the most sophisticated meteorological forecasts that suggested he might. The game will go on, and for those who want to see the players as they proceed along this notoriously difficult course–especially holes 14 to 18–there may be some last-minute weekend rentals within a manageable price range.

Below are some rentals we’ve spotted on airbnb that would make some sense. They’re listed as available for this weekend, but of course, there’s no guarantee.

No. 1
Two bedrooms and one bathroom on single floor of a private home. Beds are singles but rooms have A/C. Guests can walk a mile and a half to the course or get a morning shuttle provided by the hosts.

From the listing:

-Around the corner from great shops, restaurants, and taverns of Ardmore, Haverford, Bryn Mawr, and Narberth.
-Off street parking for three cars
-Refrigerator in room
-Lovely backyard, porch, and patio with fire pit for summer evening cocktails or nightcaps

It says there’s a five-night minimum, but given that it’s not yet rented, I’ll bet that’s now flexible. As is the $400/night price?

No. 2.
Private room in Ardmore with queen-size bed, dresser, a small closet, a bay window with black out curtains, a reading lamp, three electrical outlets and an air purifier. The room is one of two bedrooms in this apartment, which has A/C, wifi, lots of video games and cable TV.

From the listing:

-a 7 minute bike ride to Merion Golf Club
-a 20 minute walk to Merion Golf Club
-a ONE minute walk to SEPTA Regional Rail (train) to get you to the city of Philadelphia for lots of wonderful historic sightseeing and shopping as well as AMTRAK to get you to New York City.
-also 80 minute drive from the beach and family fun in Atlantic City.

The host is asking $200 per night.

No. 3
Entire single-family home on Church Road. This four-bedroom, two-bath colonial is just a little more than one mile from the golf course, event parking and shuttle service. There’s plenty of parking at the house, if desired.

From the listing:

Conveniently located just 1 block from the shops and restaurants of Lancaster Ave, this house is set in the perfect location for both daytime and nighttime excursions. Amenities include: Gas Grill, Furnished Patio, 60″ HD Smart TV with Cable HBO and Cinemax, 3 bicycles for use, high speed WiFi

This one is a rather spendy $2,000 per night.

No. 4
One-bedroom condo in Haverford. This 900+ square-foot apartment is right near the Haverford train station, where there’s a shuttle that can take guests to the golf course.

From the listing:

3 blocks from beautiful Haverford College campus (where many US OPEN events will take place). Condo has spacious living room/dining room, bedroom (sleeps 2) + additional twin sleeper available (upon request). Central Air, TV, and WiFi.

Here’s a good price for you: $185 per night.
