Villanova Estate Le Cadeau With Stunning Gardens and Room for 27 Grandchildren

The impossibly grand Le Cadeau in Villanova belongs to J. Eustace Wolfington, which is a fittingly grand name for the owner of a property “set among the landscape of the Main Line’s most prestigious estates.” If the Wolfington name sounds familiar, it’s because the family is known for its local roots in transportation; Wolfington’s great grandfather started the family carriage-building business in Philadelphia in 1876 with the slogan “The name on your grandfather’s Brougham.” Wolfington won the Barry Award from the American Catholic Historical Society, which called him “a man of high principles who genuinely ‘walks his talk’.” He and his wife had 10 children and 27 grandchildren.

Like its name, Le Cadeau’s exterior is deliberately French, as are many of the inside details. The 9,315 square feet includes 6 bedrooms, 7.5 baths, and sits on 2 acres. Though the home is certainly impressive, the gardens are the real stunner. They go far beyond the de riguer “specimen plants” and “mature trees” touted in most listings copy about estates.
