When Taylor Swift’s best friend got married, Aleksandra Ambrozy was at the helm of the bridal-beauty prep. Even before that, Ambrozy and her stylist team were well-known within the tri-state area for their accessibility, versatility and talent. So expect her to deliver for your Big Day, too: While she has a studio in Center City, the pro offers on-location wedding services, and will work with you to achieve a look — well — beyond your wildest dreams. (Thanks, T. Swift.) All packages include false eyelashes and the option of traditional or airbrush makeup, in addition to any pre-wedding email or phone consultations. Ambrozy continues to book weddings for this year and is growing her team to accommodate rescheduled weddings. The staff wears face masks, and disinfects tools and products between each client; in studio, she is planning to limit the number of clients served at a time to accommodate COVID-19 guidance. We love her preference for using vegan and cruelty-free products, as well as her work to spread positivity through her career: She recently began hosting weekly Instagram live makeup challenges with one of her colleagues. In the wake of COVID-19, she and her team are providing guided makeup application and hair styles via FaceTime for those still holding socially distant micro-weddings. “Even though we’re not physically able to be with our bride [right now], we’re able to give her our support virtually and play a special role in such an important day,” she says. Additionally, she and her team continue to take the latest sanitation certification courses; they’ve expanded their calendar to book 2021 beyond their normal capacity to accommodate postponed brides. She also took on clients such as actresses Gemma Chan and Karla Souza. The industry pro, who also holds a master’s degree from Harvard University and is the founder of Paint School of Makeup, is an advocate for minimalism, making fewer but smarter purchases by sticking to “workhorse” products over impulse buys. “I do hope that one of the silver linings of the pandemic is a return to simplicity,” she adds. On that note, she says that each of her artists on an on-site job must have a separate room to work in, and only one client can be in that space a time. Beau will keep talking during service to a minimum and ask you to do the same. “Lip masks and calming music will come in handy here,” she says, to achieve a zen-like experience. Sanitization will also remain a high priority. Bridal makeup price upon request; 4100 Main Street, Suite 401, Manayunk.

Center City

For major events, fluttery, flirty lashes have long been sought after through a rotating trial of mascaras. But on your wedding day, the sweat, tears and heat can threaten even the most waterproof swipe. That’s where eyelash extensions come in. If you want doe eyes, but not the racoon-eye consequences that come with mascara, then LashBee recommends its hybrid and volume full eyelash sets, both of which will photograph fabulously and also stay on through the ceremony and the honeymoon. The Philly-born and based business offers bridal lash parties, if you and your bridesmaids want a similarly eye-opening experience. And if lashes aren’t necessarily your thing, then LashBee also offers bridal makeup, and will even throw in a pair of strip lashes at no extra charge. As a former student at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Moore College of Art, Martinez took her passion for painting and transitioned it into hair artistry, which is why helping brides tell the story of their wedding is a cornerstone of her artistry.
