It used to be that every once in a while we would come across a couple who decided to host a fun little after party following their wedding reception—and it was usually something casual, where friends and younger guests would migrate from the reception to the nearest bar to continue the celebrations. Nowadays, though, it’s a whole different story: Rarely do we meet a couple who isn’t having some sort of post-wedding party, and in most cases, there’s plenty of planning going into it, too.

But before you start stressing out about planning yet another party, hear us out. The after-party basics are really very simple: Pick an easily accessible spot, invite everyone (it’s common courtesy, though the older guests probably won’t come) and make sure there’s plenty of food to go around (we love these local food trunks; or if you’re a Cescaphe bride, Wahlburgers is a great option).

After that, it’s all about having fun—the after-party is your chance to really let loose (switch into a comfortable dress, girl!) and enjoy the festivities with your closest friends and family.
