If you want your wedding-day soundtrack to sound exactly the same as the one played at every other affair you have and will attend this year, go ahead and pass this list of tunes along to your DJ. But, if you want to stray from the pack a bit and treat your guests to a whole slew of songs they’re not already sick of (read: the ones they’re constantly hearing on the radio), we suggest you nix the Top 40 hits and get a little more creative with your music choices.

Let’s start here: These 18 non-traditional wedding songs (minus John Legend’s “All of Me” because even though we love that song, it is absolutely the most traditional, over-played wedding ballad right now) are sure to get the party started without the “I just got this out of my head” reaction from your guests.

There’s “Ho Hey” by The Lumineers, Coldplay’s “Swallowed in the Sea,” “Banana Pancakes” by Jack Johnson and a bunch of other neat songs for you to consider here.
