Buy Discounted Vera Wang, Support the Fight Against Breast Cancer

An awesome local event this weekend.

Jack Hollingsworth

This is such a cool idea.

This weekend, on March 2nd, 3rd and 4th, the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is putting on a bridal gown sale to benefit the organization. Basically, brides will have the opportunity to purchase seriously awesome gowns at seriously ridiculous prices (for real—maybe don’t brag to other brides, lest they fit you forever with their scorn), and then, all the proceeds go to the fight against breast cancer.

Here are all the deets:

Where The Sheraton Wilmington South in New Castle, just down 95.

When On Friday, March 2, from 4 to 8pm, there’s an exclusive preview sale, for which you need to register in advance. It costs $20 for a bride and one guest, and then $15 for any other accompanying members of your entourage. On Saturday, March 3, the sale is open to the public from 9am to 6pm, and on Sunday, March 4, from 11am to 4pm, with extra special pricing on that day.

The Gowns There will be nearly 900 of them, donated by bridal designers, local bridal salons, and some actual brides. Their sizes will range from 2 to 32, their styles from strapless to A-line to v-neck, their colors from white to ivory to champagne and blush. Their tags will have names on them like Vera Wang, Reem Acra, Pronovias, Rivini, Maggie Sottero, Alfred Angelo, and lots more. They will be in excellent shape, many of them still new (we hear there’s a gorgeous Lazaro with the tags still on it!), and their price tags? They’ll start at $100.

Extras There will be dressing rooms for gown-trying—no public dropping of trou necessary, thank goodness—and other bridal accessories like veils and slips and headpieces will also be for sale. Parking is free. Payment is accepted in cash or credit card form. And, in case you want to cross a few other things off your list, the Sheraton will be offering tours of their wedding space during the sale (and offering a package upgrade to any bride who books there!), and other local vendors, such as florists, photographers, bakers, transportation and music companies, and more will also be on hand to chat with you.

Did we mention all proceeds will go to fighting breast cancer? So go forth and shop! Find the Dress. And if you do, please report back. We want to hear. (And see!)
