Bride-to-be- Blogger Leslie: Celebrating Our Engagement-aversary!
This week is an extra special week for Charles and I because one year ago this week, Charles and I got engaged! So for this post, I would like to invite you to take a walk with me down memory lane from last year at this time …
On Sunday October 4th last year, my now-fiancé and I had just come back home to Philadelphia from celebrating a weekend in Hershey for a friend’s wedding. It was an amazing weekend. We spent our time away doing some of our favorite things — tasting wine and (of course) eating chocolate!
After our fun weekend in the happiest, chocolate-iest place on Earth, Charles and I came home Sunday morning, and he suggested we spend the lovely day at the Philadelphia Zoo. I would later find out that he had plans to go up in the Philadelphia Zoo balloon and propose up there — but he had been waiting to do that for a month, and every time he wanted to go (including that Sunday), the balloon wasn’t up!
After our fun day at the zoo, Fiancé told me that he had made dinner plans for us somewhere special. We had reservations at the WaterWorks Restaurant in Philadelphia and watched the sun set along Boathouse Row. It was very romantic and an amazing meal. After dinner, he took me for a walk down to the water’s edge and proposed.
It was an amazing whirlwind weekend that I will never forget and I am so thankful that I have my blog to document amazing events like our engagement! It’s so fun to look back at all the pictures and relive all the memories.
I’ve also noticed that not many people really get to celebrate a whole year of being engaged. I feel like long engagements aren’t really the norm these days. It is crazy to think that next year this time we will be married and looking forward to celebrating our first wedding anniversary as husband and wife!
But that is still a few months away, so for now it’s very exciting for me to get to say “Happy Engagement-aversary” to Fiancé this week!
If you would like to check out the rest of our proposal story, you can find that here.
How long were you engaged? Did you have a long engagement? If so, did you do anything special to celebrate your engagement-aversary?
