WATCH: Police Are Investigating This Sledgehammer Attack in Port Richmond

A surveillance camera caught footage of a man repeatedly striking an SUV with a sledgehammer as the driver of the vehicle attempts to get away.

Philadelphia police are investigating an apparent sledgehammer attack caught on a surveillance camera in Port Richmond.

NBC10 reports that the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, in the parking lot of a business on East Luzerne Street.

The video, which was originally posted to YouTube but has since been removed, shows a red pickup truck follow a silver SUV into a parking lot. A man in a bright yellow shirt jumps out of the pickup truck with what seems to be a sledgehammer, smashes the SUV driver’s window, and strikes the vehicle repeatedly.

As the SUV attempts to drive away, he follows it. At the same time, a man in a blue shirt exits the SUV through the passenger door, and limps toward the SUV as it continues to drive toward the parking lot exit, then stops. The man with the sledgehammer walks toward his truck, then toward the SUV, as the SUV driver exits the vehicle, then gets back inside. The man in the yellow shirt appears to strike the man in the blue shirt with the sledgehammer. After a few seconds, the SUV drives off, seemingly with both the driver and the passenger in the blue shirt. The man with the sledgehammer gets back in the truck and drives away.

NBC10 reports that the owner of the business where the confrontation occurred called police, who responded to the scene. Police are looking into the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS.
