Wawa’s New App Offers Free Drinks, Food

Philly's favorite convenience store takes a leap into the future.

Now Wawa is working its magic on your smartphone.

The beloved convenience store chain this week unveiled the Wawa app. And while it’s handy — you’ll be able to use the app as a “gift card” that can be used to make purchases at the store — it’s also, literally, rewarding: Use it often enough, and you’ll be treated to free food and drinks.

There’s now a payoff to being a Wawa fanatic. But you’ve got to spend at least $50 before you accumulate rewards.

“For many years, we’ve looked at adding a reward program and we’ve talked to a lot of people about it,” Wawa Public Relations Manager Lori Bruce told the Delco Times. “It (had) to be consistent … We put together a meaningful program. We’re in it for the long-term. We’re looking forward to moving into this next phase of our relationship with our customers.”

Convenience Store and Fuel News gives an overview of the app’s features:

Manage Wawa cards: Customers can register a Wawa gift card to earn Wawa Rewards and check balances. They can reload those cards at any time.
Redeem Wawa rewards: Customers can use rewards in the store by redeeming coupons from their phones.
Find a nearby Wawa store: They can also get hours of operation and directions.
Check fuel prices: Customers can find out real-time fuel prices at Wawa fuel stores.
View nutrition information: Users can plan a meal and find out nutritional content.
Connect with friends on social media: The app also allows customers to use digital check-ins.

The app can be downloaded for  at iTunes and Google Play.
