Johnny Weir and Husband Getting Divorced [Updated]

Only a week after the domestic biting incident that made it’s way around the web, Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir has announced that he and husband Victor Voronov are getting divorced. He broke the news via Twitter, saying: “It is with great sadness that I announce that my husband and I are no longer together. My heart hurts, and I wish him well.”

Weir seems to be painting a picture that the parting is somewhat amicable. He followed his divorce tweet with, “No matter what, I am a cheerleader of love and partnership and creation. I am sad yet I am thankful that I was loved and that I could love.”

But Voronov seems to be singing a different tune, tweeting this: “Shocked by the abrupt ending of my marriage and am dealing with the trauma including multiple things I am just now becoming aware of … ”

UPDATE [3/20/2014, 9:55 a.m.]: TMZ reports that the split was caused over Weir’s busy schedule and pushed-back vacation plans:

Sources close to the couple tell us … Johnny and husband Victor Voronov have been having issues for a while — but were hoping to spend some quality time together on a long, relaxing vacation.

But when Johnny was tapped to cover the Olympics in Sochi, he got super busy — and we’re told the vacation was pushed … and pushed … and pushed.

We’re told Victor supported Johnny and his career, but the couple had only seen each other 2 or 3 times in the past month and it was taking a toll on Victor.

Victor has been telling people there was a vacation ultimatum — but Johnny was simply too busy to take time off for a getaway … and we’re told that was the final straw.
