Edward Snowden Might Maybe Possibly Be Heading to Venezuela (Maybe)

Confusion has been a big part of the Edward Snowden ordeal, and thanks to a tweet from a russian diplomat, this most recent round of “Where in the World Will Snowden Seek Asylum” is no different. Alexei Pushkov, chairman to Russia’s Foreign Affairs committee in Duma, tweeted that Snowden had accepted an offer for asylum in Venezuela. Situation solved, right? Not quite: Pushkov shortly thereafter deleted the tweet, saying later that he got his info from a Russian TV channel called Vesti 24. Vesti, however, makes no mention of that information on their website or Twitter, and in fact was quoting Pushkov in their report. Snowden, meanwhile, might actually end up in Venezuela—if he can get out of Moscow’s airport, that is. [AP]
