Same-Sex Marriages Begin in Delaware
Having become the 11th state to allow same-sex marriage back in May, Delaware saw its very first same-sex marriage today in Wilmington. The couple, Sen. Karen Peterson and her partner, Vikki Bandy, officially tied the knot this morning, changing their standing civil union to an unencumbered marriage with a short, simple ceremony. After Sen. Peterson and her partner completed their nuptials, other same-sex couples lined up for their own marriage licenses, marking another quick shift in Delaware’s evolved stance on the same-sex marriage issue. Unfortunately for neighboring Pennsylvania, though, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing legal gay marriage any time soon. [ABC]
