Check Out Detailed Crime Patterns in YOUR Neighborhood!

Today, AxisPhilly, formerly Philadelphia Public Interest Information Network (I approve of the name change), launched its spiffy new website. Among the features you’ll see there today is a detailed, well-designed interactive map that documents crime patterns in every single Philadelphia neighborhood over the last five years. Here are some stats they compiled that might interest y’all:

In Rittenhouse crime is down 7% from 2007, but burglary, aggravated assault and rape are all up since 2011.

In Old City crime is down 26%, pretty much across the board.

In Chestnut Hill crime is actually up 15%, all due to a spike in property crime, and in large part due to increased residential burglaries.

In the last five years, crime is also up in Queen Village, Bella Vista, Fishtown and Washington Square.

If you’ll forgive this schmaltzy intro video, the new site is worth checking out in full. [AxisPhilly]
