Mitt Romney Leads in Swing States Poll as Women Lean Right

A new USA Today/Gallup poll suggests that Mitt Romney holds a slight edge over President Barack Obama among likely voters in America’s swing states. That lead can be attributed to the GOP candidates surge in popularity with female voters, who have started to lean right since the first presidential debate.

“In every poll, we’ve seen a major surge among women in favorability for Romney” since his strong performance in the first debate, veteran Democratic pollster Celinda Lake says. “Women went into the debate actively disliking Romney, and they came out thinking he might understand their lives and might be able to get something done for them.” [USA Today]
