Get Ready for Floating Buses in Philly

A fleet of three shuttle boats might soon cruise up and down the Delaware River thanks to the Waterfront Corporation. The Ben Franklin, the William Penn, and the Stephen Girard together make the “Water Link,” a plan from the defunct Penn’s Landing Corporation that called for floating buses on the Delaware. Two months ago, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation pulled the boats out of a dry dock at Pier 9. Apparently the boats—originally purchased in 2003, but never put to use—performed surprisingly well. Each vessel can hold 22 passengers, but there is no budget or timetable for them to be put to actual use. [CBS 3]
