Melissa Etheridge: I’m for Gay Divorce!
The out rocker shares a thing or two about life, love and Splitsville
Melissa Etheridge may be famous for her Billboard hits, but she’s also made headlines for her well-publicized – and not always pretty – breakups. Recently on Joy Behar: Say Anything!, The View co-host’s new anything-goes show on Current TV, the out rocker opened up about what she really thinks of gay marriage – and gay divorce.
“I’m for gay marriage, because I’m for gay divorce,” says Etheridge. “Because I don’t think people realize what a system heterosexuals have for marriage. You can marry someone and then, oops.”
She reveals that she had to pay twice as much to end her most relationship – a domestic partnership – because of tax issues and legal problems facing many same-sex couples.
