Mars Curiosity Lands. Last night, while you were getting your solid eight, a team of scientists geeked out because NASA’s Mars rover Curiosity successfully landed on the Red Planet. We can hardly forward our email properly, and these folks launched a car-sized rover into space 36 weeks ago, successfully predicted when it would land, and received high-quality images of a planet that’s 352 million miles away. Garrett Reid Autopsy Results Expected. Garrett Reid—the 29-year-old, eldest son of Andy Reid—was found dead at Eagles training camp on Sunday. There was no indication of suicide or foul play. Autopsy results (expected to come back on Monday) should reveal more details. Eagles 24/7 has news coverage and reactions to the tragedy at Lehigh.

Motive Sought After Sikh Temple Shooting. Authorities, searching for a motive, executed a search warrant at the apartment of the gunman who went on a shooting rampage and killed six people at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin. [NBC News]

Lightning Strikes at Pocono Raceway. One person is dead and nine more are injured after lightning struck in the parking lot outside the Pocono Raceway on Sunday. The incident occurred shortly after Jeff Gordon won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pennsylvania 400. [CBS 3]

FLOTUS in Philly. First Lady Michelle Obama is expected to be in the area on Thursday for a few ticketed, open-to-the-public campaign events. FLOTUS will make stops in Philly, Montco and Lehigh Valley. Exact details have not yet been announced. []
