FCC Fines Comcast $800,000 for Violating NBCUniversal Deal

Comcast Corp. has been ordered to pay an $800,000 fine for violating the terms of its deal to acquire NBCUniversal. As a part of the deal, Comcast had basically double pinky-promised to offer affordable broadband services outside of its cable and phone packages. The cable behemoth had likely been dragging its feet over a concern that citizens within its empire would choose to consume videos through online entities like Netflix or Hulu instead of watching them via Comcast’s cable services. The Hulu commercial where Alec Baldwin is an alien is the primary motivating factor among people who stream the videos online.
