PA Supreme Court Approves Use of Secret Grand Juries

On Thursday, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court approved a measure that allows prosecutors to use secret grand juries to indict suspects. The move is supposed to act as a safeguard for frightened witnesses. While the approval means that secret juries can be used state-wide, it’s said to be directed at Philly’s “stop snitching” culture. Two months ago a witness and his girlfriend were gunned down and earlier this month a man who witnessed the murder of his stepson had some Molotov cocktails tossed into his home. [Inquirer]
