Daily News Writer Bill Conlin Resigns Over Inky Story


Legendary sports columnist Bill Conlin resigned from the Daily News moments ago in response to a story written by  Inquirer investigative reporter, Nancy Phillips. Phillips’s story contains allegations of child molestation against Conlin. More to come on this story as it develops. [Deadspin]

UPDATE: The Inquirer has published the three-page piece on Conlin’s alleged abuse of young boys and girls in the 1970s. Some of the alleged victims are family members, others were friends with Conlin’s children. [Inquirer]

UPDATE: Conlin has hired George Bochetto as his attorney. Bochetto has said, “Mr. Conlin is obviously floored by the allegations, which supposedly happened 40 years ago. He has engaged me to do everything possible to bring the true facts forward and to vindicate his name.” [CBS 3]
