Donovan McNabb Officially Benched for Ponder
Rookie quarterback will start in place of McNabb for the Vikings
Donovan McNabb is the best statistical quarterback in the history of the Philadelphia Eagles franchise. He holds countless records, helped the Birds to the playoffs more often than not, and led them to the Super Bowl in 2005. He also starred in numerous Campbell’s Chunky Soup commercials, had complaints about his treatment by media and fans, and was never able to bring a Lombardi trophy to Philadelphia. The Eagles realized that Five’s best days were behind him and shipped him out of town. After a brief stint in Washington, McNabb landed in Minnesota where they’ve recently relegated him to backup quarterback behind rookie Christian Ponder. Head Coach Leslie Frazier announced today that Ponder will start over McNabb on Sunday. [NFL]
