New study finds that smokers' kids miss more school

With school back in session this week, it’s fitting that today’s health headlines are all about kids. The top story making the rounds is about school absences among children of smokers. Boston researchers found that kids living with one or more adult who smokes in the house miss more school than kids in smoke-free homes. And some of those missed school days—nearly a quarter—are directly attributable to smoking-related illnesses. Sad, right? Count it as another reason to quit.
