City Council Pases Tax Hike, Mayor Nutter Raises Parking Rates
A four percent property tax increase was officially approved by City Council today
City Council approved a property tax increase of nearly four percent this afternoon. The hike will be a part of the city’s budget sent to Mayor Nutter for approval. The budget situation has been materializing over the course of the past few weeks with the (supposed) death of the soda tax and the stay of execution granted to D.R.O.P.
Mayor Nutter has also raised the parking rates at meters throughout Center City and University City by 50 cents an hour. With the school budget situation what it is, the Scoop was anticipating getting nickel-and-dimed, but this half-dollar business is cutting into his Pac-man money. [FOX 29]
