For months, eastern Main Line moms have been buzzing about Bala Cynwyd Indian BYOB Saffron, and now Amblerites can get in on chef Rafiq Din’s South and North Indian fare at a new, comfy outpost. While the doughy dosa masala didn’t live up to expectations, classics like the biryani, channa masala, chicken tikka and salt lassi certainly did, with the kheer — an Indian rice pudding — the best we’ve had outside the Subcontinent. For an introduction, try the $15 weekend buffet in Bala. Insider tip: A riesling or a sixpack of crisp lager will stand up to the spicy (though not overspiced) flavors.
