Loosely based on the 1933 musical film 42nd Street, some of the songs in this show have actually been around since, well, the Great Depression. And chorus girls have been kicking those leggy bodies around on Broadway stages for about a quarter of a century. The plot: Peggy Sawyer, straight off a bus from Allentown, unexpectedly steals the “Pretty Girl” show when the lead actress happens to break a leg (OK, ankle). The score: filled with familiar hits — “We’re In the Money,” “Go Into Your Dance,” and (duh) “42nd Street”. The prescription: if lots of tap dancing happens to trigger your migraines, better bring the Excedrin.

November 7th to January 7th; times vary. $10 to $65. Walnut Street Theatre, 825 Walnut Street, 215-574-3550; www.walnutstreettheatre.org.
