Out Speed Skater Ireen Wust Wins Third Medal at Sochi Winter Olympics

And then there were four … four medals for Olympic Team Gay, that is.

Gay Star News reports that openly bisexual speed skater Ireen Wüst won silver today in the women’s 1,500 meters.

Her time, as reported by AFP, was 0.58 seconds off the winning time. Taking gold was fellow Dutch athlete Jorien ter Mors, with a time of 1 minute and 53.51 seconds.

Lotte van Beek, also from the Netherlands, won bronze at 1 minute and 54.54 seconds.

This makes Wüst’s third win at this year’s Sochi Winter Games: She won gold in the 3,000 meter race, and silver in 1,000 meters.

The fourth medal for Team Gay was won by lesbian Daniela Iraschko-Stolz, who took home silver last week in the first-ever Olympic women’s ski-jumping competition.
