Sunset Social, a Rooftop Bar and Burger Shack, Is About to Open in UCity
The new concept from some of the partners behind Walnut Street Cafe will serve burgers, fries, veggie bowls, and drinks on Cira Green's grassy, 1.5-acre roof.

A new rooftop burger spot is coming to University City. Sunset Social will open this Monday, May 6th, on the lush rooftop of the Cira Green building at 129 South 30th Street.
A project of Walnut Street Cafe and the Post’s Branden McRill and Mel Fuechtmann and Brandywine Realty Trust, Sunset Social will serve burgers, fries, beer, wine, and frozen cocktails. The stand in one corner of the building’s expansive green roof will operate during spring, summer, and fall.

The menu from chef and culinary director Jack Peterson includes fried chicken sandwiches, veggie bowls, and corn dogs. Drinks-wise, they’re focusing on frozen drinks like daiquiris and piña coladas, along with craft beers and wine by the glass or one-liter bag.
Hours at Sunset Social are 11 a.m. until midnight daily. Before Monday’s opening, they’re hosting Philaderby, a Derby Day party with mint juleps, live music, a Best Dressed contest, and more from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. this Saturday, May 4th. Get tickets here.
