Rittenhouse’s Wiz Kid Launches a New Line of Vegan Ice Cream

Plus, a new fall menu and happy hour.

Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby hit the ground running when they opened the Wiz Kid brick and mortar back in August. Their food stall at Whole Foods (now gone) gave them a few months of market-testing before they opened their Rittenhouse storefront, which came complete with a shiny new liquor license and an expanded menu.

Now, three months in, the vegan quick-serve got a seasonal tune-up, added a happy hour and its own line of vegan ice cream, which if you’ve ever been to their fancy-pants restaurant, Vedge, you know is worth your while.

First things first: The fall menu is now live with some new globally-inspired goodies.

The Sabich Steak — which they ran as a special all last week (with great success) — is now, officially, on the menu. It’s a Philadelphia-Israeli mashup made up of Wiz Kid’s classic Philly steak and the addition of grilled eggplant, whipped tahini, harissa tofu and Israeli salad.

There’s a new Yucatan Chopped Salad, too, built with black beans, grilled zucchini, charred poblano, cauliflower and crushed tortillas with a cilantro goddess dressing.

Happy-hour-wise, cut $2 off any hard drink (beer, wine, or cocktails) between 4 – 6 p.m.

And check out the new ice cream (aptly called Cool Kid) available by the half-pint:

Flavors include the above Triple Dog Chocolate Dare, Peanut Butter Jelly Time, Lil’ Lucious Lemon, and Coffee for Daze. Enjoy them in the store or at home.
