Octo Grille’s Delayed Opening Has a Not-So-Fishy Explanation

Octo Waterfront Grille, the newest bar/restaurant/lounge on the Delaware, has had to push back its planned Memorial Day opening — but contractor delays aren’t the holdup. Turns out there’s a bale of protected red-bellied turtles living underneath the riverside deck, forcing some design changes that will actually have a beneficial effect down the line: The revised structure is being built to last twice as long as a typical waterfront deck, which means that those turtles (and we imbibers) won’t have to be interrupted again for construction for at least another decade. Look for an early June opening.
