Feds: Don’t Let Vince Fumo Travel Without Checking In First
On Wednesday Federal prosecutors attempted to prevent Vince Fumo from leaving the Philadelphia area without informing his probation officer first. In a court filing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. Zauzmer wrote that Fumo shouldn’t be treated differently than other convicted felons “simply because he owns or controls more homes than the average convicted defendant.”
Currently, Fumo needs permission from his probation officer in order to leave the eight-county area that comprises the Eastern District Court of Pennsylvania. In addition to Philadelphia, the district includes Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery and Northampton counties. These counties do not include Fumo’s haunts down the shore or in Harrisburg.
Fumo recently visited Harrisburg, where he met with the Senate Democratic Caucus. State Sen. Anthony Williams said the caucus gave him a warm reception.
