The latest news and notes as the Eagles coaching search rolls on.

8:08 — The Dolphins could be close to making a final push for Adam Gase, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.

There’s growing momentum within the organization for the Dolphins to hire Adam Gase, the Miami Herald has learned. Gase also interviewed Friday with the New York Giants.

Gase, the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, is the hottest name in this year’s coaching carousel. And he was always high on Stephen Ross’ list — whose opinion matters the most.

If the Dolphins do indeed hire Gase, as some in the building believe could happen this weekend, he will be the eighth consecutive Dolphins coach with no prior NFL head-coaching experience.

Per Adam Schefter, the Dolphins have scheduled a second interview with Gase for Saturday.

The Eagles are high on Gase from what we understand and were/are eyeing a second interview with him. But it appears they are also  interested in Doug Pederson and are scheduled to meet with him on Sunday.

I’m not sure they’re going to be rushed into a decision, particularly given the sentiment that they perhaps did not do enough vetting the last time around with Chip Kelly. Jeffrey Lurie would have to be sold that Gase is the guy to deviate from the intended course. With Miami applying the heat, we’ll see the Eagles’ hand in the very near future. — TM

3:45 — The Giants confirmed they met with Adam Gase on Friday.

9:13 a.m. — Roob with a Sean McDermott update:

McDermott is on the Giants’ radar as well. Still nothing doing on the Eagles front. 9:05 a.m. — Chip Kelly interviewed for the Niners head coaching position, per CSN Bay Area. More from PFT:

Kelly would be an interesting fit for the 49ers if they decide to keep Colin Kaepernick around as their starting quarterback. Kaepernick’s running ability in Kelly’s offense could be an intriguing pairing. However, the rest of the roster is significantly lacking in talent after multiple draft day misses over the last several years by the 49ers front office. The Kelly interest comes out on the same day the 49ers interviewed Buffalo Bills assistant head coach/running backs coach Anthony Lynn for the job.

Ian Rapoport seems to think there’s some substance to this potential pairing.
