Reid Still Won’t Commit To Vick
Yesterday, Andy Reid was asked by Birds 24/7 whether he was committed to Michael Vick as the team’s starting quarterback.
“Today, I am,” he said. “I am going to take a hard look at everything.”
A day later, the head coach did nothing to soften his stance, leaving the door open for a potential quarterback change.
“As I sit here today, he’s the starting quarterback,” Reid said.
“I’m going through and I’m evaluating everything. I’m looking at everything… everybody and everything.”
Asked if other starters should be ready for changes, Reid said, “All I can tell you today is what I’ve got down today. That’s all I’m going to do, and you can take that however you take it. I’m trying to give you as much as I can give you at the time.”
Later in the press conference, a reporter told Reid his open-ended answer would likely lead to speculation about his quarterback situation, but even then, the coach did not back down.
“I’m just telling the truth,” he said. “That’s what I’m saying to you. Right now, Michael Vick’s the starting quarterback. I’ve told you that I’m going through and I’m evaluating. I told it to you yesterday. I’m telling it to you today. I’m trying to be real with you. And so, I’ll continue to evaluate myself. I’ll continue to do the things that I think are right for this organization.”
