Roots Philly Yoga has been a fixture on Spring Garden Street since 2015, but on Friday, the owners closed the door on their two-year-old studio.

Not for long, however. On New Year’s Day, Roots opened up in a brand-new space located just two blocks away at 1000 Buttonwood Street. And while the new space will continue to host the studio’s series of Ashtanga classes — including their 80-degree “Fire Flow” and a soothing “Candelight Vinyasa” — it’s also adding a few new offerings to the list.

Included in the additions is community acupuncture, which will be provided by Root’s in-studio acupuncturist, Dawn Webster of Callowhill Acupuncture. For $20, attendees can either sign up ahead of time or walk-in for a group acupuncture treatment, which are scheduled for Wednesdays from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to studio co-founder Lauren Burling, there are also plans to add a couple of in-studio massage therapists to Roots Philly Yoga, for some pre- or post- class full-body restoration.

In celebration of their grand re-opening, Roots is offering a special discount through February 28 for any new students who want to try them out. For $20, you can get two weeks of unlimited classes — which is a pretty good deal, especially if doing lots of yoga is a part of your New Year’s resolutions. Check out the class calendar to find your first session here.
