Camp Runabout: There’s Another New Summer Camp for Adults in the Poconos

This adult summer camp for runners comes complete with mimosas at breakfast, dance parties at night, and all sorts fun in between.

Adult summer camps in the Poconos have become quite a trend. There’s the OG, Camp Bonfire, then the new just-for-women adult summer camp experience Rise Gatherings, and now, we’ve spotted another one: Camp Runabout, an adult summer camp for runners, going down at a 200-acre camp in the Poconos in September. And it looks like it’s going to be a really good time.

The adult summer camp, open to folks 21 and over, is slated to go down from September 21st through the 24th. Because it’s designed with runners in mind (it is called Camp Runabout, after all), each morning starts bright and early with a run through the mountains, complete with camp counselors trotting alongside you to ensure you don’t get lost. Post-run, it’s time for breakfast, where mimosas and Bloody Marys are served alongside your toast. Then, it’s on to camp activities. Think: ropes courses, zip lining, dodgeball, kayaking, flying trapeze (!!), something called “primitive fire starting,” and more. Midday, you’ll break for lunch, then it’s back to pretending you’re a 12-year-old with more camp activities. Before dinner, there’s a yoga session (or MORE camp activities, if you so please). There will also be afternoon runs.

We told you it sounds like a good time.

Come happy hour, the adult fun comes in: There’s an actual happy hour each evening at 6:30 p.m., complete with an open bar (the open bar goes all night long), followed by dinner. Then, after dinner, they’ll have running-related speakers and bonfires, complete with s’mores and a fireside bar. And each night ends with — wait for it — a camp-wide party, with a DJ or live music from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Then you wake up and do it all over again.

The three-night camp will run you $550 for a shared bunk (this includes all activities, drinks, meals and snacks, speakers, and so on) or $650 for a private room. They’ll have roundtrip buses from Philly to camp and back; that will cost you an extra $50.

The Camp Runabout website doesn’t actually list the exact address for the camp, but the address listed on Camp Runabout’s Facebook page is 163 Lindenmere Lane in Henryville, which appears to be the home of Camp Lindenmere. You can learn more about the Camp Runabout and register here. Here’s to forgetting about adulthood for 72-ish hours!
