Imagine this: You’re on a bike, pedaling from Philadelphia all the way to Cape May. (My calves are panicking just thinking about it.) That’s exactly what local non-profit Team Foster plans on doing in their third annual Foster 100 this September. And to train for the big day, Team Foster will be holding a series of bi-weekly free group bike rides along the Schuylkill River Trail, starting this Sunday. And psst: They end with free beer!

The group’s first ride is this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The ride will start at Riverbend Cycles (1 Station Avenue, Conshohocken), where riders will get a 10 percent discount off merchandise, and end at the Conshohocken Brewing Company for a free post-ride beer. Founded in 2014 by veteran Nick Liermann, Team Foster works to pair veterans suffering from combat-related disabilities like PTSD and traumatic brain injury with service dogs. The dogs are trained and cared for at no cost to the soldiers with the help of Alpha Bravo Canine.

Everyone is welcome to the bi-weekly rides, whether you’re training for the 100-mile ride in September or just looking to get your pedal on. You can RSVP here.
