UPDATED 6/1 at 5:05 p.m.: We talked to Brandon Gussoni, who is organizing the ride along with his friend Justin Tucker. He told us that past versions of the ride have topped out at around 40 people, and that this year’s version has gotten much bigger than they’d anticipated.

“If everyone who’s saying they are going to come actually does come and orders tacos at the restaurants, we’re going to be stuck at each place for a long time,” he explained. So Gussoni wants to stress the importance of pre-ordering tacos this year. The form to do that is here and all orders, along with payment, are due to Gussoni by Friday, June 5th.

ORIGINAL: Spending your Saturday biking around town from taco shop to taco shop, shoveling every type of stuffed tortilla under the sun (and the occasional margarita) into your face, sounds like a dream one might have while inebriated, right? But it’s not a dream! It’s real: The fourth Tour de Taco, a bike ride that makes its way to nine taco shops around Philly, is happening Saturday, June 13th.

This year’s ride is brilliantly named the Tour de Taco IV: Straight Outta Chompton, and as the Facebook page for the event says, “Year 4 of the best taco related biking event is here to raise taco awareness because we all need to do our part.” Here, here.

The ride will start at Jefferson Square Park at 4th and Washington Avenue at 10:30 a.m. and folks will proceed to make their way from there to nine taco shops around Philly, including Los Jimenez Mexican Cocina in South Philly, Honest Tom’s Taco Shop in West Philly and Loco Pez in Fishtown, where the ride will end.

Riders have the option to pre-order their tacos or order them a la carte as they go, and from the looks of the Facebook page, the ride is open to anyone who wants to join in. You can check out a photo of the route here, and find out more about the ride (which is bound to be the best bike ride of your life) here.
