10 Valentine’s Day Activities That’ll Get You Sweating

Who ever said Valentine’s Day has to be all about chocolate and flowers? Here, ten V-Day-themed events designed to keep you moving.

Feel the Love 5K
Who it’s for: Competitive couples
What it is: This race, organized by Bryn Mawr Running Company, adds a bit of friendly competition to the Valentine’s Day spirit. Grab your cutie and get moving, because this race is crowning the couple with the best overall combined time as the winner. Top competitors are eligible for some great prices and everyone is able to attend an after party at XFinity Live!

$25 before February 7th, $35 after; race day is February 9th at 3:30 p.m., Philadelphia Navy Yard.

Valentine’s Day Singles Run
Who it’s for: Solo runners
What it is: A fun and super popular race just for singles. Cost includes admission to an after-party at Ladder 15, two drinks at the bar, light food, and a Brooks running shirt. And who knows? With all the commitment-free singles running around, maybe you’ll even find a Valentine’s Day date. (Note: The race is sold out for women, but there are still spots left for guys.)

$25, February 14th at 6 p.m., Philadelphia Runner, Center City.

Cupid’s Undie Run
Who it’s for: Anyone not afraid to strip down
What it is: A one-mile jaunt in your underwear, with an after-party to follow. Need we say more?

$30, February 9th from noon to 3:30 p.m., Urban Saloon, Fairmount.

Blue Cross RiverRink’s Sweetheart Skate
Who it’s for: Hopeless romantics
What it is: Spend the night skating away while holding your sweetie’s mitten-clad hand. A DJ will set the romantic mood by playing all your favorite love songs. If that’s not enough, a complimentary red flower will be provided to the ladies, and couples will leave with a free sweetheart photo keepsake. The event will be just enough of a cliche to make your evening perfect.

$20 per person, February 14th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Blue Cross RiverRink, Penn’s Landing.

For the LOVE of Rowing
Who it’s for: Gym rats
What it is: RowZone Manayunk is offering a special deal on their RowZone classes throughout the month of February. Buy two classes—one for you and one for you Valentine—for just $14.  This high-intensity class burns between 600 and 800 calories per session and will leave you and your partner looking better than ever.

Swinging Valentine Impact Jazz
Who it’s for: Wanna-be Broadway stars
What it is: Philly Dance Fitness is adding some Valentine’s Day flare to its Impact Jazz class. The class gives contemporary jazz a high-energy twist and guarantees to teach you dance moves that will leave you feeling like a Broadway star. Skip the dinner and a show—this class gets you in on all the action!

Valentine’s Day Couples’ Yoga
Who it’s for: Serene sweeties
What it is: Synergy by Jasmine provides the perfect opportunity for you and your partner to get closer than ever with couples’ yoga for beginners. The two-hour session is complete with a guided massage lesson and a fireside snuggle with herbal tea, cheese and chocolate after the yoga session.

$50 per person, February 14th from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., Synergy by Jasmine, West Chester.

Valentine’s Day Partner Yoga and Thai Massage Workshop
Who it’s for: Hands-on couples
What it is: If you’re looking for couples’ yoga event within the city’s limits, check out  at Mama’s Wellness Joint on the corner of 11th and Pine Street. The candle-lit workshop is open for all levels and can be done with anyone you love (including your mama!).

$40 until February 9th, $50 after; event is February 14th from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Mama’s Wellness Joint, Washington Square West.

Partner Yoga Workshop
Who its for: Bendy types
What it is: Grab a partner and hit the mat. This couples’ class covers the basics with tandem postures that promote breathing, touch, trust, communication and play. Suitable for all levels.

$40 per couple, February 17th from noon to 1:30, Sculpere, Northern Liberties.

Anti-Valentine’s Day Ride
Who it’s for: All you V-day haters
What it is: Body Cycle Studio’s Jess Sullivan is so over this mushy holiday. Her Anti-Valentine’s Day Ride is all about celebrating your love for the most important person in your life: you. Riders will be asked to share what they love most about themselves (hello, affirmations!). With the hardcore beats and heart pumping music, there’s nothing sappy about it.
