Cooking healthy meals can be a challenge, especially if you’re not sure what’s good for you or why. On October 19th, Essene Natural Food Store founder Denny Waxman will give a free lecture on how to prepare food for the best nutritional results. He’ll explain the benefits of a whole-foods, plant-based diet and where you can get essential nutrients like carbs, protein, Omega-3s, and an array of vitamins and minerals. He’ll also cover different cooking methods from boiling and steaming to pickling and fermenting so you can break the bland salad routine. To start mixing up your diet, head to the Essene Market on South Fourth Street this Wednesday evening.

Free, October 19, 7 p.m., Essene Market and Cafe, 719 South Fourth Street.
