Making Sense Of the Eagles’ Inactives

The following Eagles are inactive for today’s game against the Tampa Bay Bucs: CB Shaun PraterCB Jordan Poyer, OT Matt Tobin, OT Dennis Kelly, DL Damion Square, TE Emil Igwenagu and TE James Casey.

Nick Foles gets the start at quarterback, but Michael Vick will dress. Matt Barkley is also active for the first time all season.

Also worth noting is that Igwenagu and Casey (groin) are both inactive. That means the Eagles are only dressing two tight ends: Brent Celek and Zach Ertz. Casey has been a non-factor on offense, but he has four special teams tackles.

Poyer is inactive for the second time this season. The Eagles have four corners dressing: Cary Williams, Bradley Fletcher, Brandon Boykin and Roc Carmichael.

Patrick Chung sat out the last two games with a shoulder injury, but he returns. Look for him, Nate Allen and Earl Wolff to all rotate in at safety.

No surprises among the other names. The backup offensive linemen are Allen Barbre (G/T) and Julian Vandervelde (center).

Cornerback Johnthan Banks will starts for the Bucs, despite contracting MRSA earlier this week. The rookie will line up opposite Darrelle Revis. Carl Nicks, however, is out because of MRSA. The Eagles will need interior linemen Fletcher Cox and Cedric Thornton to take advantage up front.

One more important injury: Bucs No. 2 WR Mike Williams (hamstring) is inactive.
