Comcast announced this week that it’s now officially taking applications for seats in its LIFT Labs accelerator. Techstars will run the program at the new Comcast Technology Center, which was topped off last month.

As we reported last year, the 12-week LIFT Labs’ accelerator program is designed to support media, entertainment and connectivity startups. Techstars says that companies focused on IoT/connected home and life, IA/ML, VR/AR, accessibility tech, wireless communication systems, direct-to-consumer products, robotics, next-gen marketing, digital wellness, vice, blockchain, and the future of entertainment are encouraged to apply. The program kicks off on July 16 and ends with a Demo Day on Oct. 11.

Competition will be tough as startups from all around the world are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is April 8, 2017.

Maya Baratz from Techstars became managing director of the Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs Accelerator in November 2017. In a blog post she wrote, “I’m excited to combine Techstars’ proven startup accelerator program with the wisdom of Comcast NBCUniversal’s industry leaders and domain experts. Not only a powerful media and distribution company, Comcast NBCU has been developing technology with people of all demographics and abilities in mind.”

She concluded, “I’m excited to rally the talented people of this combined team to ensure that the companies who join us, from Philadelphia and beyond, will elevate their ideas beyond where they dreamed.”
