You know what I love about Philly runners? A little cold doesn’t scare ‘em. Case in point: Yesterday evening, a bunch of Be Well Philly Undergrounders showed up at Rittenhouse Square for our March pop-up event, The Growler Run, a group fun run to 2nd Story Brewing Company in Old City cohosted with our pals at Foobooz. And was it the kind of cold most people avoid at all costs (even though it’s supposed to be spring)? Yes. But did that scare off anyone? Nope.

We ran — with our fabulous run leaders, Jon Lyons of Run215, Rebecca Schaefer of the Rocky 50K and Annie Gianola of City Running Tours, leading the pack — through Center City, straight down Lombard to 3rd Street, where folks running the two-miler kept on toward the brewery and the four-milers kept on truckin’ toward Columbus Boulevard.

Eventually, everyone made it back 2nd Story Brewing Company where some very well-deserved free beer, snacks galore (hello, warm soft pretzel bites!), and a big ol’ growler were awaiting them. It was a sweaty, beer-filled blast of a Monday evening, if I do say so myself.

Big thanks to the awesome folks at 2nd Story Brewing Company for hosting us! And thanks to our friends at Foobooz for teaming up with us to bring Undergrounders this sweet beer run. I think it’s safe to say, beer runs are the best runs.

If you missed it, you can check out photos below. And if you have yet to sign up for Underground, what are you waiting for? Do it already.
