Philly Stage Actor Loses Leg in Center City Hit and Run


Local actor Michael Toner, 68, has suffered major injuries after he was struck by a car near 11th and Market streets overnight. The car fled the scene.

NBC 10 reports that he is in critical condition, and that one of his legs had to be amputated. Police do not have a description of the vehicle that hit Toner, and, as of publish time, there have been no witnesses come forward with information about the accident. Investigators are currently checking surveillance footage.

Toner, a La Salle grad, just wrapped up a performance in a production at Amaryllis Theater Company, and was about to begin rehearsals on a new show coming to Walnut Street Theatre.
