Martha Graham Dance Company @ Prince Theater | November 3-6
Not to be confused with drag queen extraordinaire Martha Graham Cracker, this is the legendary dance troupe in a rare Philly visit. They’ll be performing Graham’s Appalachian Spring, Errand into the Maze and Dark Meadow Suite, along with Lamentation Variations, a remix of the choreographer’s solo piece Lamentation. Stay after the Friday evening or Saturday matinee show for a post-performance discussion with the dancers.

Jerome Bel @ FringeArts | Thursday, November 3
If nudity on stage isn’t your cup of tea, you might want to skip French choreographer Jerome Bel’s controversial, self-titled early work. But considering this is the same guy who brought us Gala at the Fringe Festival, I think you’d be making a mistake.

UniverSoul Circus @ Fairmount Park | November 3-27
The circus touted as “hip-hop under the big top” is spending the month in Philly, setting up in Fairmount Park next to the Mann. The show is heavy on dance and acrobatics, with a lineup of international acts including Fly High, out of Cuba; the Trinity contortionist troupe from Ethiopia; the dancers of Caribbean Dynasty; and Colombian aerialists Duo Roxanne. In keeping with circus tradition, you’ll also be watching plenty of clowns, the Olates’ Comedy Dog Act, and motorcycle daredevils.
