Yasiin Bey, the MC formerly known as Mos Def, is coming to Union Transfer on July 25th for the first-ever Summer Recess concert organized by Little Giant Creative (LGC). Bey will be joined by North Philly native Freeway in a rare concert appearance that aims to “bring together an eclectic audience of rap aficionados and hip-hop lovers of all ages and backgrounds.”

“Summer Recess was conceived as a platform to not only satiate Philadelphia’s love for genuine hip-hop music and exceptional lyricism,” says LGC representative Meegan Denenberg, “but to present the city as a mecca for independently produced and curated concerts that celebrate the best of undiscovered and extraordinary talent.”

Freeway says he’s excited to return to his hometown: “Philly is home, so coming back to host Summer Recess is an honor. With Yasiin Bey headlining, we’re giving Philadelphia–especially the younger generation–a taste of pure hip-hop.”
