Free Ladies' Night Run in the Wissahickon
From Be Well Philly: Grab your sneakers and get ready to sweat, ladies: Tuesday evening, you are invited to a free ladies’ night out, courtesy of sports coach Marcy Gialdo. ... This ladies’ night out will consist of a four-mile ladies-only run through the trails of the Wissahickon. The Writer's Palette: Zadie Smith
Zadie Smith–brilliant novelist and professor of creative writing at New York University–will join Jed Esty in conversation at the Penn Humanities Forum this Wednesday evening. Esty, a professor of English at the University of Pennsylvania, will discuss a wide range of topics with Smith, including her extensive list of award-winning work, diverse background, and literary influences. Tell Me A Story: Growing Pains
Philly raconteuse Hillary Rea will host an evening of comedic storytelling this Wednesday at Shot Tower Coffee. Join author Lisa Kirchner, standup comedian Sidney Gantt, and political activist (and director of this Philly Naked Bike Ride video) N.A. "Schofield: International Impressionist"
Woodmere Art Museum presents the opening of its latest exhibition, "Schofield: International Impressionist." The artwork of renowned landscape painter Walter Elmer Schofield will be on display, with over 60 paintings comprising "the most ambitious exhibition to date" of the artist's work. Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll
Bargain hunters, assemble: University City will showcase local businesses this Thursday by offering dollar deals all along Baltimore Avenue, from $1 craft beers and bites, to special ticket offers and memberships. Along with the $1 steals from local vendors, live entertainment will line the street–including music, fire artists, and jugglers. For more information, head here. Mount Airy Street Fare
Mount Airy invites fellow foodies to "sip, savor, and stroll" along Germantown Avenue this Thursday evening. The city's best gourmet food vendors and local restaurants will set up shop along the street, providing a variety of delicious eats to sample, plus craft beers, wines, and cocktails. Several bands will play live music throughout the evening, and kid-friendly activities will be available to occupy the little ones. Run to Work Day Philly
From Be Well Philly: Hold on to your sneakers, runners: Run to Work Day Philly is officially on the books for Friday, September 19th. You're invited to join Be Well Philly, Philadelphia Runner and Run215 for this massive debut initiative that celebrates Philly as a running city. For one day, commuters from across the region will forgo their cars (or bikes, or trains), lace up their running shoes, and hit the pavement for the best (and sweatiest!) commute of their lives.
