Go Go on the Block
The Trestle Inn—famous for its extensive whiskey list and 60s- and 70s-inspired playlist—is hosting Go Go on the Block Friday, starring the Inn’s glamorous go-go dancers, the Trestle Specials. The al fresco block party will begin at 5 p.m., with $10 pitchers of beer and delicious cocktail concoctions to fuel (and possibly improve) your dance moves. Finally Friday in Mt. Airy
On the last Friday of each month, Mt. Airy invites visitors to come out and enjoy a variety of festivities, including restaurant specials, performers, arts & crafts, and vendors selling a variety of goods. Friday, Brent Leif Arnesen will perform his eclectic mix of rock/funk fusion beginning at 6 p.m., and there will be an impromptu photo shoot for both kids and adults, sponsored by the Community Art Collective. Intimate Exchanges
Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy Intimate Exchanges has arrived at the Arden Theatre Company. The play, starring Jennifer Childs and Tony Lawton, is centered around the twists of domestic romance. It may consist of only two actors, but the show has eight possible endings (which way it goes is entirely dictated by the audience). The production is presented as part of the 2014 Fringe Festival, but you can preview it this weekend (for a special ticket price of $26!) before opening night next week. PHAIR Open-Air Market
Head to Historic Headhouse Square on Saturday to get your weekend dose of retail therapy: peruse vintage clothing, furniture, art, jewelry and other handmade goods, all on sale from a variety of vendors. There will also be locally crafted food onsite to satisfy hungry shoppers. Saturday, August 30th, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Headhouse Shambles, 2nd & Lombard Streets.


Where to Get Corndogs
From Foobooz: Shake Shack isn’t the only place combining Labor Day and corn dogs. Philadelphia’s own Hot Diggity is offering five mini-corn-dogs for $5 this weekend. More here.


Cannstatter Annual Volkfest
Philadelphia’s German-American Society, The Cannstatter Club, invites you to the 142nd Annual Volksfest this weekend–from Saturday through Monday. The party will include a variety of musicians and performers, rides, and crafts, plus German beers and wines, and traditional German fare (bratwurst, anyone?). For more information, click here. Labor Day Festivities at Franklin Square
Something for the little ones: starting at noon on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, Franklin Square will celebrate the holiday weekend with a variety of family-friendly activities, like carnival games, mini-golf, train rides, and more. Saturday, August 30th-Monday, September 1st, 12 p.m.-3 p.m., Franklin Square, S. 6th Street.


Drury Beer Garden Labor Day BBQ
Drury Beer Garden, located in the backyard of Opa, will host a special LDW BBQ this Sunday. Starting at 2 p.m., burgers, hot dogs, and other holiday food staples will be on the grill, with a variety of beer and drink specials to wash down the eats. Party goers can also engage in some friendly gaming, like ping-pong and Jenga. Cheers! Sunday, August 31st, 2 p.m.-6 p.m., Drury Beer Garden, 1311 Sansom Street.


The Great Boogie Woogie
From Foobooz: Join Kraftwork for a Labor Day party.The Great Boogie Woogie party is happening in a warehouse at 1526 N American Street and there will be live music, food trucks and beer from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. More here.
